Suzanne Ridgway is a Los Angeles based freelance writer, specializing in grant proposals for nonprofit agencies and in magazine writing. She has a B.A. in English from UCLA and has been a contributor and regular columnist to several magazines, with approximately 200 published columns and articles. As a grant writer over the past seventeen years, she has helped raise approximately $9 million for various Southern California charities and nonprofits. Most nonprofit clients are small, grassroots organizations, although she has had large institutional clients as well.
Prior to becoming a full-time writer, Suzanne worked seven years in nonprofit organizations, including hospitals, and three years in regulatory compliance roles at for-profit healthcare related companies. She has been responsible for coordinating large and small medical education conferences and supervising project teams and events. She can work with executive, finance and program staff to define and describe organizations and their services and create supporting documentation for grants and other corporate needs.
Suzanne is available for all types of writing and research projects for nonprofits or for-profit corporations: grant proposals, newsletters, direct mail pieces, annual reports, promotions/publicity, policies/procedures, case histories, reviews, synopses, ghostwriting, presentations, or website content. She will also review, evaluate or edit materials and offer critiques.
